HMAS STIRLING, Australia (March 14, 2023) – Lt. j.g. Zach Cutter, temporarily assigned to the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Asheville (SSN 758) from the USS Springfield (SSN 761), is pinned with his submarine qualification by Rear Adm. Rick Seif, commander, Submarine Group 7 during an all-hands call at Royal Australian Navy base HMAS Stirling. The submarine warfare insignia is a uniform breast pin worn by enlisted and officers to indicate that they are qualified in submarines. To earn the right to wear the pin, aspiring submariners must successfully complete a rigorous qualification process. (U.S. Navy photo by Lt. Cmdr. Rob Reinheimer)
