    U.S. Marine Corps pallbearers with 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Forces Reserve, escort the casket of retired U.S. Marine Corps Col. Harry E. Sexton during his funeral in Lake Elsinore, California, March 10, 2023. Sexton honorably served 26 years and flew more than 400 combat missions during the Vietnam War. As commanding officer of Marine Light Helicopter Squadron (HML) 367, callsign “Scarface,” in 1970, he was one of the first commanders of an AH-1G Cobra squadron. Sexton was awarded the Navy Cross for his heroism during Operation Tailwind as he and his fellow Scarface Cobra Gunships engaged the enemy to provide cover for the exfiltration of a nearly overwhelmed force of U.S. Army Special Operators out of Laos. Sexton's awards include the Navy Cross, 2 Legion of Merits with Combat V, Distinguished Flying Cross, (44) Air Medals/Strike Flight Awards. Sexton was a Laguna Beach, California, native.
