The Puerto Rico National Guard celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for its new facilities in Fort Buchanan, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The facilities will consist of five buildings in a "Campus Style" with a total of 155,00 square feet necessary to support the National Guard Mission. Among the attendees at the ceremony were the Adjutant General of Puerto Rico, Maj. Gen. Antonio J. Vicens, Resident Commissioner in Washington, Pedro Pierluisi and Secretary of State, Kenneth McClintock. Here, Pierluisi addresses the audience with his speech in which he said “Our National Guard has walked the extra mile since September 11, 2001,” said Pierluisi. “Over 16,000 Citizen-soldiers had mobilized and each one of them is a hero in my book.”
