U.S. Marine water support technicians with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and Japanese servicemembers with the 1st Amphibious Rapid Deployment Regiment, Japan Ground Self Defense Force, set up a water purification system to support a combat service support area on Kin Blue Beach, Okinawa, Japan, March 9, 2023. The Marines set up the water point to supply the 31st MEU and 1st ARDR and demonstrate sustainability in support for Iron Fist 23. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
