U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, fire an FGM-148 Javelin during a bilateral live-fire exercise at Hijudai, Japan on Feb. 21, 2023. The bilateral exercise was conducted to increase proficiency and understanding of each other’s weapon systems as part of Iron Fist 23. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
