SAN DIEGO – (Feb. 10, 2023) Capt. Matthew Cieslewkowski, commanding officer of USS Boxer (LHD 4), a native of Norwich, Connecticut, and Culinary Specialist Seaman Tyreke McGill, a native of Columbia, South Carolina, cut a cake with a cutlass during the celebration for the ship’s 28th birthday on the mess decks. USS Boxer (LHD 4) is the 6th ship to bear the name in two centuries and is a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship homeported in San Diego.
