U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Jacob Jimenez, a native of Evansville ,Ind., and a ground sensor operator with 2d Intelligence Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group poses for a photo during an amphibious exercise on Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Virginia, Jan. 31, 2023.
“Being a ground sensor operator, it’s important due to the fact that it provides 360 security without the use of personnel being in the AO [(Area of Operations)], " said Jimenez. “It’s important because it provides support for the troops in order for them to rest up and maintain composure and morale so they're not just aiming at trees all day. Our sensors can take place and get activations for them so we can call upon them to go search and destroy the enemy.”
The exercise serves as an opportunity for stronger naval integration between Marines and sailors by providing them with a better understanding of boarding and amphibious shipping. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Ethan Robert Jones)
