Regional Command-East Chaplain (Maj.) Paul Girdley and other Soldiers, from Camp Bondsteel, attended a service at the mosque in Pristina, Kosovo, at the invitation of Imam Labinot Maliqi, on Nov. 18, 2022. During the meeting, Girdley spoke to the congregation about services that are held on Camp Bondsteel.
“As a Chaplain, I encourage soldiers to be sincere and passionate about their faith traditions. I also minister to Soldiers and offer a weekly worship service according to my faith traditions, values and beliefs. Just as the trees of the forest produce different kinds of fruit, so do our soldiers. That is the purpose of religious freedom in our military and our nation,” Girdley said.
The Soldiers observed the service and joined the Imam for a tour of the mosque afterwards.
RC-East is committed towards maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all communities in Kosovo as mandated by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999.
