U.S. Air Force then-Master Sgt. Beau Jones, right, then-332nd Security Forces Group first sergeant, poses for a photo with Abdul, an Iraqi security guard, during a deployment to Iraq in August 2009. Abdul was one of around 500 local guards who were the first point of contact for military and locals visiting Balad, helping to protect the base.
