U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Japan Engineer District (USACE JED) Deputy Chief of the Engineering division, Philip Lewis, briefs attendees at the Society of Military Engineers (SAME) forum, held in Tokyo, Japan, October 19, 2022. Lewis provided attendees, who included civilian and military contractors, in addition to Japanese investors, with information regarding what kind of problems and solutions JED has encountered in their contracting processes while building overseas. Founded in 1920, the Society unites public and private sector individuals and organizations from across the architecture, engineering, construction, environmental and facility management, cyber security, project planning, contracting and acquisition, and related disciplines in support of national security.
