U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Jessica Christian, 1st Operation Support Squadron non-commissioned officer in charge, ensures the gears are strapped on correctly inside of the hypobaric chamber at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, Oct. 11, 2022. The hypobaric chamber is designed to simulate the effects of high altitude on the human body in a controlled environment. The chamber went into a “mothball” status in 2014, but has been reopened as an active training device that, together with the Aerospace Physiology Flight, will now support more than 24 states and several hundred permanent party officers and enlisted flyers from across the JBLE community.
