Brig. Gen. Rodney Boyd, the Assistant Adjutant General - Army for the Illinois National Guard and Commander of the Illinois Army National Guard, rides in an open-topped convertible in the annual Bud Billiken Parade as a Honorary Grand Marshal of the parade. The Bud Billiken Day Parade is the largest African-American parade in the United States of America and has taken place in Chicago since it's inception in 1929. General Boyd grew up on the South Side of Chicago and participated in the Bud Billiken Parade as a youth.
