U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Xinyi Xie, a supply clerk with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Sgt. Kyle W. Chisholm, an airframe maintainer, Sgt. Quante V. Ellison, a solder cable repair technician, and Sgt. John V. Vargas, a reconfigurable transportable consolidated automated support system technician, with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st MEU, prepare for their promotion aboard Amphibious Assault Ship USS Tripoli (LHA-7), Aug. 4, 2022, in the Philippine Sea. The promotion ceremony took place on the flight deck of LHA-7. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
