    Name: TSgt Kaylen Horace
Duty Title: Section Chief, personal Property and Passenger Travel
    Unit: 7 Logistics Readiness Squadron
    Hometown: Portland, Oregon
Hobbies: spend time with my family, travel, working out/running

What inspired you to join RAD?
“My inspiration for RAD didn’t come automatically; it kind of just fell into my lap. What I mean by this is, I had originally stumbled across an opportunity to participate in an event called the Norwegian Foot March (NFM) which is an 18.6 mile ruck (in full uniform while wearing a 25lb rucksack). I’ve never rucked a day in my life, however, I was enthralled with such an amazing opportunity and I love a good challenge! Through RAD, I met an incredible team of folks whom I’ve trained hours upon hours, month after month, mile after mile. We are more than just a “team” we’ve bonded and became friends to which we share a common interest in and same drive. We’ve all worked extremely hard together for several months and we have come a LONG way together as a team."

What is the most valuable takeaway so far?
“The most valuable takeaway was learning the different operations in Operation Market Garden in the staff ride and how each battle throughout had an effect on the overall outcome. I believe if we can have a better understanding of what each entity has to offer through a conflict, we can succeed together as a whole. This approach can enhance our capabilities and expedite decision making, thus, taking out the enemy with less losses for us."

Based on your experience, what advice would you have for Airmen and leaders?
“I would recommend to Airmen and leaders to have an open mind. The idea should be to enhance mission capabilities by understanding more than your own part of the mission, and how our allies’ mission sets can fit into ours.”
