U.S. Marines assigned to Battalion Landing Team 2/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, load an MV-22 Osprey prior to a tactical air control party training on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, July 7, 2022. The training allowed the Marines and Sailors of the Maritime Raid Force, BLT 2/5, and Naval Special Warfare Group the opportunity to maintain proficiency in coordinating airstrikes and mortar strikes while simultaneously de-conflicting the two. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
