A UH-1Y Venom performs a flyover of U.S. Marines and Sailors assigned to the Maritime Raid Force and Battalion Landing Team 2/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and the Naval Special Warfare Group during a tactical air control party training on Irisuna Island, Okinawa, Japan, July 7, 2022. The training allowed the Marines and Sailors the opportunity to maintain proficiency in coordinating airstrikes and mortar strikes while simultaneously de-conflicting the two. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
