CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti (June 15, 2022) U.S. Marines assigned to Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 163 perform the first hot refueling, a bulk fuel technique of replenishing fuel while the engine of an aircraft is running, performed on Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti (CLDJ) on a U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey. Proof of hot refueling capability in Djibouti demonstrated the capacity to reduce refueling time by 66 percent, a substantial increase in aircraft readiness.
