U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. George Russo, right, a Manchester Township, New Jersey, native and a rifleman with 2d Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, receives an award from Lt. Col. Jonathan Landers, the battalion commander of 2/8, during a ceremony on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, June 16, 2022. Russo was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his heroic actions on June 11, 2022. While on liberty in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Russo witnessed a car accident involving five cars.
