    Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet

220616-N-Wl376-1001 SAN DIEGO (June 16, 2022) – Vice Adm. Michael Boyle salutes sideboys during his change of command ceremony at Naval Base Point Loma, June 16. Boyle became the 32nd commander of U.S. 3rd Fleet, a combat-ready force of more than 68,000 people, 100 ships and 400 aircraft stationed throughout California, Hawaii and Washington. An integral part of U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. 3rd Fleet not only leads naval forces in the Indo-Pacific, but also provides the realistic, relevant training necessary to flawlessly execute our Navy’s role across the full spectrum of military operations—from combat operations to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. U.S. 3rd Fleet works together with our allies and partners to advance freedom of navigation, the rule of law, and other principles that underpin security for the Indo-Pacific region.
