A contractor uses a brush to put the final texture on the runway extension of Taxiway Alpha Oct. 5, 2012, at RAF Mildenhall, England. Pavement-quality concrete is used to provide the necessary grip required for aircraft. The extension, scheduled to be finished in April 2013, will allow swifter takeoffs for heavier aircraft, which currently have to back-taxi to the end of the overrun and turn around.
