220512-N-DW158-1117 PHILIPPINE SEA (May 12, 2022) Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54), right, and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) destroyer JS Teruzuki (DD-116) steam in formation with the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), during a bilateral exercise. The U.S. Navy and JMSDF routinely conduct naval exercises together, strengthening the U.S.-Japan alliance and maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
