220407-N-ZS023-1032 NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO (April 7, 2022) An MQ-8C Fire Scout unmanned autonomous helicopter attached to the “Wildcards” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 23 moves aboard Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Montgomery (LCS 8) in preparation for an upcoming exercise. LCS is a fast, agile, mission-focused platform designed to operate in near-shore environments, winning against 21st-century coastal threats.
