A group of multinational observers and spectators lay witness to a tribute ceremony at the equestrian statue of Albert I in Liège Belgium to commemorate the resistance of German invaders during World War I, Mar. 29, 2022. Germany invaded the neutral country of Belgium after declaring war on France in an effort to deny a French fortification along the French-German border. The ceremony paid homage to King Albert I who personally led his soldiers into battle to secure the continued existence of the Belgian state. (DoD photo by Tech. Sgt. Daniel E. Fernandez)
