An equestrian statue stands in the city of Liège Belgium to memorialize King Albert I who reigned over Belgium during the World War I German occupation, Mar. 29,2022. Every year, a ceremony takes place at the statue to honor the heroic efforts and sacrifices of Belgian fortification fighters in Liège and to pay homage to Albert I who personally led his soldiers into battle.
