ATLANTIC OCEAN (March 7, 2022) Capt. Michael Concannon, right, commanding officer of the Expeditionary Sea Base USS Hershel “woody” Williams (ESB 4), and U.S. Marine Corps. Capt. William Ash, assigned to Task Group 61/2.4, Task Force 61/2, cut a ceremonial cake during the ship’s birthday celebration, March 7, 2022. Task Group 61/2.4 is part of Task Force 61/2 which is a rapidly deployable and scalable coordination cell that will temporarily provide command and control support to Vice Admiral Gene Black, commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet, as part of ongoing experimentation efforts. The Task Force will synchronize Navy and Marine Corps units and capabilities already in theater, in support of regional Allies and Partners and U.S. national security interests.
