    Ice Exercise (ICEX) 2022

BEAUFORT SEA, Arctic Circle (March 12, 2022) – Vice Adm. William Houston, left, commander of U.S. Naval Submarine Forces, Submarine Force Atlantic and Allied Submarine Command, speaks with Rear Adm. Richard Seif, commander of the Undersea Warfighting Development Center, at Ice Camp Queenfish during Ice Exercise (ICEX) 2022. Ice Camp Queenfish is built on an ice sheet floating in the Arctic Ocean 160 nautical miles offshore, and includes tents for sleeping, dining and managing exercise operations. ICEX 2022 is a three-week exercise that allows the Navy to assess its operational readiness in the Arctic, increase experience in the region, advance understanding of the Arctic environment, and continue to develop relationships with other services, allies, and partner organizations.
