U.S. Marine Corps Col. Robert J. Hallett, the assistant division commander of 2d Marine Division (MARDIV), gives a speech during the 81st birthday ceremony for 2d MARDIV on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Feb. 1, 2022. The 2d MARDIV was officially activated on Feb. 1, 1941. Since then, the division has been a part of many battles and peace keeping missions from the Battle of Tarawa to Operation Iraqi Freedom.
