U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Jacob Stout, a native of Columbus, Ohio, and a rifleman with 3rd Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment (3/2), 2d Marine Division, dons an M50 gas mask during a 2-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile (CS gas) training event on Camp Lejeune, N.C., Dec. 1, 2021. This training was apart of a Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation, an exercise designed to formally evaluate a unit’s combat readiness and if successful, the unit will achieve apex status and is deemed ready for global employment.
