A group of U.S. Navy sailors in dress uniform stand at attention along the stern rail of a naval vessel, facing outward toward open water. An American flag flies from a flagpole mounted on the ship's deck, with a distant shoreline and another vessel visible on the horizon. The scene appears to depict a formal naval ceremony, likely a 'manning the rails' formation during a port departure or arrival.
