A U.S. service member assigned to a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) recovery team, digs dirt during a DPAA recovery mission, Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam, Nov. 19, 2021. DPAA personnel arrived to conduct excavation operations in an effort to find a U.S. reconnaissance pilot lost over Central Vietnam during the Vietnam War. There are currently 1,584 U.S. service members still unaccounted for from the Vietnam War.
