Keanu Shannon, 10, got his COVID-19 vaccination from his mom Allie Shannon, a registered nurse with Fort Riley's Army Public Health Nursing Nov. 17. He was the first child to receive the shot after is was made available to children.
The Federal Drug Administration gave the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine emergency authorization to use in children ages 5-15 years old and full approval to use in people ages 16 years and older on Oct. 29.
