Maj. Gen. Douglas A. Sims II, commanding general of 1st Infantry Division and Ft. Riley, awards a coin to Spc. Miles Naylor of 1st Sustainment Brigade, 1st Infantry Division at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), Pa. on Oct. 5, 2021. Maj. Gen. Sims is visiting 1st Sustainment Brigade Soldiers to recognize and thank them for their work in support of Operation Allies Welcome. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
