Then Sgt. Maj. Matthew Strasser and then Sgt. 1st Class Jeremy Strasser help load sandbags at Fort Irwin, Calif., before their deployment to Afghanistan in 2010. On Sept. 10, 2021, Matthew passed responsibility of the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Iowa Army National Guard, to his younger brother Jeremy, marking a unique moment in Iowa National Guard history. The two brothers have dedicated a combined 47 years of service to the Red Bull brigade and have served on two deployments together. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt. Tawny Schmit)
