Command Sgt. Maj. Matthew Strasser and Command Sgt. Maj. Jeremy Strasser ride in a UH-60 Blackhawk during their deployment to Kosovo together in 2020. On Sept. 10, 2021, Matthew passed responsibility of the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Iowa Army National Guard, to his younger brother Jeremy, marking a unique moment in Iowa National Guard history.
