U.S. Army Sgt. Jimmy Townsend, South Carolina National Guard Joint Force Headquarters human resources assistant, sang the National Anthem to honor the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001 during a remembrance ceremony held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, South Carolina, Sept. 11, 2021. The South Carolina National Guard is committed to preserving the memory of all service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice to their country since 9/11, as well as supporting current and former military service members and first responders. The South Carolina National Guard is a community-based organization and participates in community events to bring visibility to the Soldiers, Airmen, and the capabilities of the organization.
