From 2012 to 2013, V Corps deployed to Afghanistan and served as NATO's International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, or IJC. On 16 February 2012, the Department of the Army announced that V Corps would inactivate upon redeployment from Afghanistan. On 12 June 2013, V Corps marked its inactivation after nearly a century of prestigious service to the U.S. Army with a ceremony at Wiesbaden's Schloss Biebrich. (U.S. Army Infographic by Pfc.
