Maj. Gen. Otto Romero, the El Salvadoran minister of defense, awards Brig. Gen. Edward Cardon, Task Force Marne's deputy commanding general for support, with the El Salvadoran's Star for Distinguished Service Medal during a ceremony, Dec. 5, at Forward Operating Base Delta. Col. Peter Baker, the 214th Fires Brigade commander, also received the Star for Distinguished Service Medal. The minister of defense was visiting the 9th Cuscatlan Battalion, Dec. 4-5.
