SAN CLEMENTE ISLAND, Calif. (July 21, 2021) Naval Air Crewman (Helicopter) 2nd Class James Flaherty, from Mascotte, Fla., assigned to the “Scorpions” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 49, signals to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing personnel that the MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter he is aboard is ready to take on fuel during Summer Fury 21 Advanced Naval Basing. Summer Fury is an exercise conducted by 3rd MAW in order to maintain and build capability, strength and trust within its units to generate the readiness and lethality needed to deter and defeat adversaries during combat operations as the U.S. Marine Corps refines tactics and equipment in accordance with Force Design 2030.
