A rocket launched by the STARBASE Los Alamitos youth rocketry team makes a timed descent during one of the team’s qualifying launches for The American Rocketry Challenge, May 8, 2021, at Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, California. The competition’s 100 lowest scoring teams will earn a national finals invitation. The team is a follow-on extracurricular science, technology, engineering and math program for Los Alamitos-area middle and high school students.
