U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, coordinate with Combat Cargo to ensure everyone is accounted for while conducting raid rehearsals aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) Oct. 8, 2020 in the Pacific Ocean. A raid has many moving parts; it is important to practice every step, Marines and sailors practiced getting ready and organized in squads in the hanger bay of the Makin Island. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and 15th MEU provide numbered fleet and combatant commanders with a responsive, flexible and forward-deployed asset capable of maritime power projection, contingency operations and crisis response.
