John Moreno, SES, regional business director for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Division, gives remarks during a groundbreaking ceremony for the Fort Hunter Liggett Microgrid Project at Fort Hunter Liggett, California, on May 27, 2021. The project will add 3.75 megawatts of photovoltaic power production and a Battery Energy Storage System to enable the installation to achieve Energy Net Zero, which means it produces as much energy as it uses. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District will be executing the project, scheduled for completion in 2022. The Sacramento District completed seven other improvement projects for the installation over the last decade as part of the Army’s Energy Resilience and Conservation Improvement Program.
