A cadet with the Capital Guardian Youth ChalleNGe Academy packs items into a care package destined for overseas-deployed U.S. service members as part of a volunteer event in support of the non-profit Operation Gratitude, at the D.C. Armory, May 20, 2021. Thirty-one cadets helped pack 900 boxes in three hours. The Youth ChalleNGe Academy is an outreach program of the D.C. National Guard that provides a military-style training program for “at-risk” youth, focused on life intervention, GED preparation and dropout reintegration.
