A U.S. Navy Resource Protection Duty Officer (RPDO) uses AWIPS to access real-time atmospheric data to issue the most accurate and timely weather watches, warnings, and advisories (WWA). RPDO’s will soon be able to issue TAFs, using the AWIPS’ capability.
