U.S. Navy Quartermaster 1st Class David Ratcliffe takes a bearing reading with a peloris as the guided missile frigate USS Underwood (FFG 36) arrives in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, for a scheduled port visit Sept. 7, 2012, during Southern Seas 2012. Underwood was deployed to Central and South America and the Caribbean in support of Southern Seas, a U.S. Southern Command-directed operation designed to strengthen relationships with regional partner nations and improve operational readiness for all assigned units.
