SASEBO, Japan (May 03, 2021) Lt. Cmdr. Joshua J. Cowart, from Jacksonville, FL, salutes the ensign during the National Anthem during a change of command ceremony. Lt. Cmdr. James Billings relieved Cowart as commanding officer of the Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Chief (MCM 14) during the ceremony. Chief, part of Mine Countermeasures Squadron 7, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response platform for contingency operations.
