    Monumental Move

Forrest Welsh, a Boy Scout with Troop 435, Guantanamo Bay makes his way up the side of Cuzco Hill here during the construction of his Eagle Scout project. With the help of Marines, Joint Task Force Guantanamo Troopers, and Naval Station personnel and residents Welsh aimed to erect a new monument commemorating the Battle of Cuzco Well and the heroic actions of Medal of Honor recipients Marine Sgt. John Henry Quick and Marine Pvt. John Fitzgerald. Historical documentation revealed that the original monument was not only placed on the incorrect hill, but that the original commemoration plaque has the wrong dates of the battle so Welsh made it his mission to earn his Eagle Scout by placing a new monument on the proper hill with a new plaque.
