A worker wearing a hard hat and safety glasses is positioned in a confined space beneath a large concrete or metal structure, working with heavy industrial equipment. A polished hemispherical metal component (likely a bearing or structural support element) is visible on a steel plate, surrounded by dark lubricant or grease. Various tools including clamps, ratchet straps, and a pipe cutter are visible in the foreground.

The moment of truth as the custom-made pintal ball is moved into place under the dam gate. There were no existing replacement parts available for this work at Chouteau Lock and Dam 17 in Chouteau, Okla., so crews were forced to wait until the actual placement of the part to know if it would fit, which it did.
