U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Vincent Uy, a Los Banos, California native and laboratory technician with the 88th Diagnostics Squadron, 88th Air Base Wing stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, removes air bubbles from a vaccine syringe to ensure a correct dose at the state-led, federally-supported Ford Field COVID-19 Community Vaccination Center in Detroit, April 12, 2021. Uy is part of a group of Airmen assigned to 1st Detachment, 64th Air Expeditionary Group that are assisting with the vaccination efforts. Uy’s main responsibility is supporting the local community members by preparing vaccines and assisting with registration. To his family back home, he said, “This is for you guys, I’m happy to represent my lab too.” U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
