U.S. Army Spc. William Gutierrez, a San Antonio native and infantrymen with the 293rd Infantry Regiment stationed at Angola, Indiana, poses during a break at the Community Vaccination Center in Gary, Indiana, April 8, 2021. Gutierrez is part of a group of U.S. National Guard personnel who will be supporting the vaccination efforts. His main responsibility is providing guidance to community members to get to the right vaccination station. Gutierrez and his family were affected by COVID-19, and he is happy he can finally visit his family now that they are fully vaccinated. He said, “Any small thing that I can do to help the community feels great.” U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
