Retail Services Specialist 2nd Class Ashley Doss is the command career counselor for Naval Submarine Base (SUBASE) New London. Doss is responsible for helping Sailors with their developmental skills and in making wise career decisions. Doss joined the Navy to get out of her hometown and have a change of pace. Doss’s interest in the Navy sparked after studying abroad for a year when she was in college and fell in love with traveling. Within Doss’s six years in the Navy, she has obtained her master’s degree and currently working towards her professional human resource certificate in hopes of becoming a Navy Human Resource Officer. “I feel like being a woman in the Navy is tough sometimes,” said Doss. “At the same time, it’s empowering to see people who look like you and it encourages you to want to be a leader for the people that are coming in after you.”
